We’re delighted to share with you our Environmental efforts and upcoming projects given the green light.

We can hardly believe Summer has been and gone already! Highlights of Summer 2019 include welcoming Exeter Chiefs and Exeter City Football Club to Ladram Bay for team training days – we look forward to supporting the Exeter Chiefs players in Japan at the upcoming Rugby World Cup. We’re delighted to have been a part of the recent local project to create a special place in Otterton to remember the local servicemen lost in the First World War. Now that both the young Oak tree and circular bench have been planted & installed within the Stantyway Recreation ground we’re certain this delightful spot will be enjoyed by many for years to come. Planning is now well underway for season 2020 and will include the installation of new solar panels in the winter to lessen our carbon footprint. These will be fitted to our key facility buildings and it is estimated will save a predicted 171 tonnes/year of CO2!    After our recent marine wildlife visitors we’re all focussed to do our bit to protect our beach and bay to allow maximum enjoyment for all. Introducing the newest on-park green initiative our One Ton Plastic Challenge. Help us hit our target of plastic collected from the beach and kindly deposit the waste within the large bin adjacent to our new sign on the slipway.  The Three Rocks  Great to hear so much positive response from you regarding our specials this year – the Sea Bass dishes and Pizzas have proven especially popular. We’ll soon be busy reviewing this year’s menu and bar stock, so please continue to share feedback and suggestions with the team. With this in mind, we are running a competition for a new addition to our 2020 menu. The winning suggestion will be placed on next year’s menu and the winner will have their first meal of the season on us (T+C’s apply). Entertainment After a very successful summer, it has come to that time where Autumn preparations begin. We have some exciting acts to look forward to, such as: 21st September: Complete Madness 5th October: Jukebox 326th October: Dave Can’t Dance Finals weekend will also be upon us from Friday 4th October – we are excited to welcome everyone back to compete in their events. It is sure to be a fun packed weekend.  To conclude the year, we have a spook-tacular Halloween family fun programme lined up. We will be theming all our family activities from Zombie chocolate party to Trick or Treat and hope that we’ll see many of you joining in. Keep your eyes peeled for Halloween updates.  Team Stars Always keen to acknowledge our #Teamstars of the month, the last few month’s superstars are as follows; April – Evelyn (Housekeeping)  Continually raising the game and setting Housekeeping standards high for all team to reach & exceed. Offering continued support to the management team. May – Allan (Maintenance) Often an unsung hero, Allan’s expert wide knowledge and dedication to both Ladram Bay & supporting the Maintenance & Sales teams especially has been invaluable. June – Marie (Marketing & Design) Proving to be a superb new addition to our team, her design skills have enhanced all areas of the park. Incredibly efficient, positive and a pleasure to work with. July – Karen (Accounts) Has adapted wonderfully transferring to the accounts team this season, to recent staffing changes & increased workload. Always dedicated and often going ‘above and beyond’ to cope with the demand of the business. August – John (Maintenance) As a consistently high-performer and dedicated team player within our Maintenance department his positive nature and multi-skilled talents have been recognised. Ever-dependable John is always available to turn his hand to all tasks.

We have been busy transforming this 43-foot long lorry into a mobile poster site for its glorious location. Designed by our own graphics team, the picture shows our cliff-top location above its private beach with an iconic sea stack just off-shore. The breathtaking view, by local photographer Ben Kapur, will be visible across the country as the lorry transports goods to and from the Greendale Farm shop based near Exeter. A major national retailer which even has its own fleet of fishing boats, Greendale Farm was quick to give its thumbs-up to the idea of putting a gigantic picture postcard on the road. Now we hope to create a twitter storm by inviting #LadramLorry tweets from wherever the truck is spotted by car passengers or by drivers when stationary.  Last year marked our 75th anniversary under the ownership of the Carter family, who believe the exercise will also provide a boost for tourism generally in the area: “I’m sure that many people when driving enjoy thinking about where they will go for their next holiday,” said Ladram Bay director and family member Zoe House. “This jaw-dropping picture is a reminder that some of Britain’s most fantastic coastal scenery, along with its finest beaches, is to be found in Devon. “We’re delighted to be partnering with Greendale Farm in this project as they also share our values about sustainability and taking care of our countryside and oceans,” added Zoe.

As the weather warms up we’re looking forward to a hot, fun-filled summer at Ladram Bay and we’ve been pulling out all the stops to prepare for this year’s busiest period! In addition to the many improvements within our individual departments, we’re pleased to have developed Pebbles Restaurant Balcony, with the inclusion of new furniture and an extended roof to provide shelter/shade in all types of weather.  Our new Coastal landscaping planting scheme on park aimed to enhance our stunning location is well underway. The new car park entrance and brightly coloured flowerbeds are certainly looking 5 star. Our Team star of the Month awards are well underway and we’re pleased to announce the star employee for March was talented Chef Lucy Doyle, of Pebbles Kitchen team. Lucy worked very hard prior to the start of the season to assist Head Chef Matt in creating our menu (even developing some ideas while away on holiday!) She helped preparing the kitchen, assisting with front of house projects and Complex paperwork – all while encapsulating the Ladram spirit.   Top 100 sites We’d love to feature in the Top 100 sites for 2020 with Practical Caravan & Practical Motorhome. The Three Rocks We’ve had a sensational start to 2019!Our menu has been greatly received and we have been producing a number of exciting dishes, so keep a look out for the specials board. Favourites have included Hake, Seabass, Calzones and finally, Ladram Lobster, caught in our very own Bay. Hopefully you have had a chance to taste our stone baked pizzas. For increasingly daring toppings, look to Pizza of the Week. Additionally, our extensive range continues to grow. We are now also stocking the Old Mout Cider range and Samford Devon Red. Ask the team if you fancy trying something new! We are excited to announce the new addition of our extended balcony in Pebbles Restaurant – the finished product will provide cover on those wet and windy days! We have also had the great addition of the outdoor sofas and dog drinking station. Sports and Leisure With the summer fast approaching, our splash zone is ready to keep you cool on a hot day or the sauna & steam room is available now to aid relaxation. Whatever the weather, we are all excited to see you.  We are always trying to add new offerings or equipment to the department and this year is no exception. We have just started taking bookings for our brand-new activity, Hover Archery! With our ambidextrous bows and soft tipped arrows, see if you can hit the bullseye or knock down the floating balls in the inflatable target range. Hover Archery is running throughout the summer and anyone aged 6 and above can come and try their luck at this fun & exciting new activity here at Ladram Bay.   Marketing & Design We’d absolutely love to share your old holiday photographs of memories gone by on social media for #ThrowbackThursday. Keep your eyes peeled for weekly performances. Don’t forget the fortnightly performance of our Electric Dreams show featuring Roger Parkes on live instruments.  Throughout the holidays we present Wacky Wednesdays in Waves Bar at 2pm. With a range of different acts to enjoy, we highly recommend that you join us for some superb entertainment. The addition of our Vegan Burger has gone very well, so if you haven’t tried it yet or fancy something different then why not sample it? It is a delicious Parsnip, Beetroot and Sloe Gin Burger served in a Vegan Brioche Bun (just £3.95). We welcomed Exeter born three-time Swimming world champion Liam Tancock to Ladram Bay for the opening of our new Splash Zone. Gold-medallist Liam declared the new Splash Zone open it was quickly descended upon by it’s first excited guests. The 160-square metres of wonderfully wet activities and challenges is already proving a hit with grown-ups as well. Each area of the Splash Zone contains pressure sensitive floor pads, with the rotating water sprinkler proving especially popular for its ability to soak others around you. Liam described the Splash Zone as a “fantastic way to help kids enjoy and become confident with water”. The Splash Zone is part of a £1 million investment made by the family-owned park in the run-up to the 2018 summer season when its 75th anniversary is being marked. Ladram Bay director Zoe House, who is a member of the park-owning Carter family, said it was a great privilege to welcome Liam to Ladram Bay: “Although the Splash Zone is all about having fun, Liam knows that youngsters just enjoying themselves in the water can be a great introduction to swimming as a sport,” she said. “We have many guests which return here year after year, and we’re often told that one big reason is the wealth of things to do for all ages, no matter what the weather. Our main aim has always been to create amazing holiday memories with first-class facilities, and I think that our new Splash Zone comes right up to the mark!” added Zoe. If you are staying with us this summer the Splash Zone is located outside the Pool Complex and will excite all ages and is even suitable for toddlers and non-swimmers. The ocean themed area measures 18m x 9m and includes interactive water features, spray guns & a pirate ship, perfect for exploration and adventures.

This Summer we’re excited to reveal our newest addition to our accommodation range, our spacious new four-bedroom luxury leisure lodge which makes multi-generation breaks a breeze, Rockpool Lodge… Our new lodge comes courtesy of  major UK leisure home specialist Prestige & Homeseeker Park & Leisure Homes and at 48ft x 20ft its by far the largest and most luxurious lodge to join our hire fleet at Ladram Bay. Lavishly equipped exclusive Rockpool Lodge provides two sets of couples each with their own en-suite double bedroom. Two additional twin bedrooms sleep up to four more people, while generously-sized living areas mean lashings of space for mum, dad, grandparents and youngsters. The architect-inspired interior features contemporary decor and furnishings, and the Rockpool Lodge also boasts a raft of other touches to create a top-end holiday experience. From the wine-cooler and dishwasher to the bath robes, premium toiletries, USB ports, Xbox with games and flame-effect log burner, there are no compromises on comfort. The pampering even continues outside with a private hot tub and the lodge’s own landscaped garden with outdoor furniture for sunbathing and al-fresco dining. Playing a major role in its design were park director Zoe House, general manager Claire Williams, maintenance manager Matt Vining, and housekeeping manager Rob Ball. According to Zoe, many of the features were incorporated as a result of customer feedback: “We are welcoming an increasing number of extended families to Ladram Bay, but teaming-up with Gran and Grandad is about more than simply spreading the costs of a holiday,” she said. “It’s also the chance for everyone to spend quality time together during their increasingly busy working lives, and to enjoy each other’s company in a relaxed atmosphere.  “The lodge will appeal as well to two sets of families who decide to take a holiday together, and of course such arrangements can also mean shared babysitting so couples can have time alone. “We are absolutely delighted at how well the Rockpool Lodge has turned out, and we are already receiving bookings for summer and autumn,” added Claire. Creating Rockpool Lodge Lavish, fresh and contemporary decor has been used throughout the Lodge for an airy, bright and spacious feel to Rockpool Lodge. The Layout The plans (pictured below) give an insight into the technical layout of the lodge. The following images give you an insight into how the lodge was manufactured at Prestige’s Northamptonshire factory before arriving at Ladram Bay Holiday Park. Part 1: The Frame Work to assemble the Lodges 2 foundations and frames begins…   Part 2: Lodge takes shape With the initial frames assembled, the roof, insulation and outer cladding are added.   Part 3: Interior comforts Windows, internal wiring, lighting and blinds are added as the frame now begins to feel homely.   Part 4: Kitchen Installation Rockpool Lodge is now taking shape as the kitchen, radiators and white goods are fitted.   Part 5: Both sides are joined together The 2 near completed sections are now joined together (briefly) while the fitting out process is completed.   Part 6: Separated for transport Prior to transportation, the 2 sections are once again divided and taken to Ladram Bay.
